What to Do in Bromley
Bromley has a lot to offer those who live and work in the area; would you expect anything less from London’s largest borough? We’ve found plenty of things to do both during work hours when we need to go and grab lunch and after the office shuts down for the day.
While Bromley can be regarded as a relatively tranquil alternative to the madness that is Central London, it still has a buzz about it. We love providing IT support services in Bromley – the people are great here and the schools come highly recommended if you are thinking of moving here with your little ones. Overall, doing business in Bromley has much to commend it.
So, what are our favourite places to visit in Bromley? Let’s take a look, shall we?
Favourite lunch spots in Bromley
You really are spoilt for choice in town, but there are a couple of places that we love to have lunch if we can find the time to sit down and enjoy the food!
Our first recommendation would have to be Havet, a fabulous Turkish restaurant where you can feast on good sized portions at a very reasonable price. The staff here are amazing and very welcoming, the only downside to eating here is having to drag yourself back to office after overindulging!
For entertaining clients, we like Cow & Pig on East Street. The décor is great and makes a good impression when you first take someone who hasn’t been in there before. The food is modern British and their attention to detail is second to none. If you end up in the Cow & Pig, make sure you have the cheese board. You won’t regret it!
Best Bromley watering hole
Our favourite pub in Bromley has to be the Rambler’s Rest. Although it’s strictly in Chislehurst, it’s still within the borough of Bromley, so we’re sticking it on our list. This is a favourite of ours in the summer months (when we get a summer!) as they have a massive outdoor area that really comes alive when the weather warms up. A good selection of real ales on tap make a nice change from the standard fare served up by many of the other local boozers. Highly recommended.
If you are looking for a drink in Bromley proper, then you can’t go wrong with the George and Dragon on the High Street. Decent pub grub on offer here and the atmosphere is excellent.
Shopping in Bromley
Bromley town centre has a nice amount of shops to hunt around if that’s your thing. The high street chains are well represented in the oddly named Intu Bromley shopping centre, which saves the journey over to Bluewater if you are in a rush or only have a lunchtime to pick up a few essentials. Outside of the mall there are one or two independent shops, but the area could do with a few more if we’re honest.
Nightlife
Once work is done and we’re away from the office, Bromley has a fair bit to offer in terms of nightlife. There are several clubs in town, with Vuvu and Biba’s leading the way, and many of the bars that would be quiet at lunchtime come to life once the darkness comes.
Bromley also has a decent cultural scene, too. The Churchill Theatre has regular performances from some of the biggest names in show business and performances can vary from big stage musicals to stand-up comedy.
Leisure time in Bromley
If a more leisurely way of life is what you are after, then Bromley caters for you, too. There’s lots of outdoor spaces to while away the hours and Crystal Palace Park is relatively close if you want to see the famous dinosaur sculptures while you take a stroll.
Sporting facilities are numerous in Bromley, so if you like to maintain an active lifestyle, this Greater London borough will have something to fit your needs. Pretty much every sport is catered for here, from golf to tennis and bowls to athletics, you’re sure to be able to find a club that will get you up, out, and active.
There you have it, our little guide to what you can do in Bromley. It may not be an exhaustive list, but it will give you an idea of what’s on offer here. Why not come and visit and see for yourself?
